Roberto Cortazar (Tapachula, Chiapas 1962). From the age of fourteen he dedicates full time to painting. From 1980 to 1982 he was a fellow of the National Institute of Fine Arts. He has exhibited in the United States, Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Norway, France, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Argentina, Venezuela and Colombia. He served as a founding member of the Advisory Commission of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts, being an academic tutor and jury on several occasions as part of the functions of the Commission, among which are the allocation of scholarships to young creators. He has taught several courses and seminars on various theoretical branches of art history, at the Academic Extension of the National School of Painting and Sculpture, as well as in other important venues.

In 2006, he presented “Saturn in the World of Pacricides”, which was later presented at the Contemporary Art Museum of Monterrey, MARCO (Monterrey, Mexico) in 2007.

In 2009, he presented “Los Desmembrados” at the National Museum of Art, MUNAL (Mexico, DF) and in 2012 he presented the exhibition “Dynamic: Dr. Moore’s blue note after Rivera” (San Diego, California, United States) ). In 2015 he presented the solo exhibition “Marcheur” at the Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery in London, England and at the beginning of 2016 he was invited to exhibit during the event Parliamentary Relationship and Political Dialogue between Mexico and the United Kingdom that was held in the House of Commons of the British Parliament.

He is currently preparing an individual exhibition in collaboration with Derrick Cartwright for the University of San Diego, Cal., USA.
